This illustration was commissioned by Vittles UK to support an article by Jenny Lau on the significance of the Rice Dumpling 粽子 (Zong Zi) in Chinese culture. It explores its history, folklore and mythic tales; each with varying levels of outlandishness. The historical anecdote which I found most intriguing was that rice dumplings were once a popular offering food during a time of dragon-worship. I sought to bring this story to life with a bit of humour, resulting in a gluttonous dragon indulging in his bountiful offerings.

Is there a form of indulgence superior to a full Bugles claw? I reckon a full dumpling claw might just be it.
